Curl Slayer Gel  Troubleshooting Tips

by Pat Moore

If you do not receive your desired Wash N Go results try these tips:
Leave in Conditioner
For most Curly’s it is enough to shampoo and condition your hair before using Curl Slayer Gel. The use of a leave in conditioner is typically not required. However, if your hair is very dry and you feel the need to use a leave in a very little bit (dime size)of Curl Bath Conditioner will do it.

Soaking Wet Hair

I cannot say enough about having Soaking Wet hair!
You MUST work on soaking wet hair not damp hair, not hair that has been air drying for 10-15 minutes, but soaking wet hair. It is best to apply in the shower and use the water to help distribute Curl Slayer through your hair.

Sections are Everything

Have a lot of hair clips on hand — because you will need them. Section your hair into as many workable sections as you need, while your hair is still wet. Then clip them up before you start working. It will keep tangles to a minimum and your hair will stay wetter longer.

Proper Application is important

Applying the Curl Slayer directly on your scalp is not necessary however, do get as close to the root as possible. If not, you'll have puffy, frizzy roots and well-defined ends. Also, try the Squishing Method by collecting water in the palm of your hands and squish the Curl Slayer into your hair from ends to the scalp. Do this section by section  collecting more water in your palms as you go to a new section and squishing. This method really helps the products soak into your hair. Lastly, when an adequate amount of Curl Slayer is applied, the section should feel very slippery to the touch and slide very easily between your thumb and forefinger when you run them down from root to tip.
Curl Defining

To define your coils/curls, Finger Rake, Shingle and then Smooth. Or, if you desire, use your favorite styling brush/comb then finger style. When an adequate amount of product is applied, the section should feel very slippery to the touch and slide very easily between your thumb and forefinger when you run them down from root to tip. Use 1-3 pumps per section depending on your hair’s needs.

Stop touching your hair until it’s completely dry
Avoid (HIH)hand-in-hair syndrome! Touching the hair before it has had a chance to set is a great to end up with frizz. Many Curly’s love using a hooded dryer until their hair reaches about 80-90% dry it helps the style set better. While some like to air dry (time permitting) or use a diffuser attachment on the blow dryer. If you decide to air dry I suggest you start early in the morning.

Maintenance
Use a Silk or Satin bonnet to cover your hair at night. Use a few light mist of Curl Refresher Spray  to reactivate your Curls as need. A quick dunking of your head under the shower 🚿 will also reactivate your Curls. Use Curl Bath Deep Conditioner every 2 weeks or as needed. At least once a month use Curl Bath Clarifying Shampoo to remove product build up. If you have medium to longer length hair use the Pineapple Method nightly.
